Burn those woke books— Houston school libraries gone.

The state of Texas will dismantle Houston school libraries and replace them with disciplinary centers. We're okay with this because books have gone woke.

The largest school district in Texas announced its libraries will be eliminated and replaced with discipline centers in the new school year.

Houston independent school district announced earlier this summer that librarian and media-specialist positions in 28 schools will be eliminated as part of superintendent Mike Miles’s “new education system” initiative.

Teachers at these schools will soon have the option to send misbehaving students to these discipline centers, or “team centers’” – designated areas where they will continue to learn remotely

Criminals are not born; they are made. When you strip communities of support and education, people do what they need to survive. Crime increases. This is a matter of fact.

So when affluent white neighborhoods enjoy robust community programs while Black and brown areas are stripped to the bone, you get mass incarceration with clear racial divides.

It’s the same damn playbook every time.

We strip them of everything. And once they are in complete despair, we invade. Men— armed with weapons and a mandate from liberal democracy— round up the poors and lock them away. Families are destroyed, corporations profit from slave labor, and we all return to brunch.

But books are woke! Drag queens are coming for our kids! Right. Right.

Houston is 45% Latino and 26% Black. The state of Texas is literally taking over the city's school system and destroying it. They can do this, in no small part, because of manufactured moral panic over fucking books. This type of rhetoric is not even original. It's trite and boring. Every fascist with a Hitler complex started with the books.

Liberals, this is an “us” problem too.

We cannot keep supporting the idea that 40% of our budget must go to cops while the government systematically dismantles marginalized neighborhoods. And yeah, the right-wingers are pushing this agenda, but Democrats are helping to fund it. There's no way around that truth. Biden cannot shut up about giving more money to cops. He’ll continue that message until we show him that we are against it.
